How to come alive and follow your passion.
How to come alive and follow your passion.
Sometimes, does life feel a little bit like you’re just trying to survive? After you come home from work every day, you are feeling tired and listless wanting only to lie on the couch but it’s time to make dinner, help with homework, bath time, bedtime, prep for tomorrow, then you can rest.
Finally, a chance to rest, but you don’t feel very rested or rewarded because ultimately rest normally just means staring at the TV for an hour before bed and that’s hardly rewarding!
So what do you do instead? How do you make yourself ‘come alive again’? Simple: you re-engage with your passions.
How to come alive and follow your passion.
We All Have Dreams
All of us have dreams and passions. At some point, these dreams and ambitions are what put you on the path you’re on now. Perhaps your aim was to work that job just long enough to earn the money you need to fund your dream. Or perhaps you’re working because you found a partner you loved and you were willing to postpone your ambitions for them.
Neither of these attitudes is wrong but if you have lost sight of why you started putting in the time and work in the first place, then something has gone wrong. If you’ve lost a reason to work, then you will just be listless and cruising through life.
So what do you do? You reignite those passions and you chase after them again!
Ask yourself:
- Why is it that you do what you do?
- Where do you see yourself in three years?
- What are your beliefs and your values?
- What were the things that gave you direction when you were a young teenager?
- And, finally, how can you get yourself back on track?
The problem is that many of us feel that our passions are silly, childish, or even irresponsible. So, what do we do? We end up burying them for more respectable aims like ‘being area manager’. But who said that being an area manager of a corporation was more respectable than being an activist or an artist?
A few things you can do to feel alive again would be
- Say something you’ve been meaning to say.
- Try something you’ve always wanted to try.
- Sign up for a class you’ve always found intriguing.
- Do something you never thought possible.
The point is that you don’t have to give up your job or your responsibilities. You just have to keep the burning passion alive so that you’re pursuing it when you can. When you do this and you remember the ‘why’, then life will have meaning and direction again.

Affirmations for Starting a New Business
Affirmations for Starting a New Business
If you didn’t’ already know, I am a huge fan of affirmations and use them as part of my daily morning routine. They were especially helpful when I first started coaching. Not only did they help make major shifts in my mindset they reminded me that I have started and ran a successful business before, why should this one be any different?
If you are just starting out with affirmations, I recommend you speak the affirmations out loud for about five minutes – three times a day, morning, midday, and evening. An ideal time to do this is when you’re putting on your makeup or doing your hair so that you can look at yourself in the mirror as you repeat the positive statement. Another option that helps to reinforce the new belief and would be easy to do at work is to write out the affirmation several times in a notebook. Notice over time as you write it if your style of writing changes. This could be a clue as to how your mind perceives the new concept.
